Is It Really Possible for a Plane Ride to Last this long?

I am sitting here typing on the computer 4 hours into a 13 hour plane ride. I actually find it hard to believe that is true as I am typing it because it already feels like at least 8 hours to me. I know that many other people have survived this so I am confident that I will too. And of course the destination and prize are completely worth it!

Since I last posted we have had a little more trouble with our flight arrangements. We left Louisville this morning with 2 other families who are a part of our travel group. Originally we were going to meet in Chicago with about 5 more families and all travel on the same flight to Beijing. With all of the changes this morning the 3 families from Louisville were routed through Detroit to Tokyo to Beijing. However somehow our family was put on a different flight from Detroit to Tokyo – so we have gone from a party of 8 families to just 1. Hopefully we will be able to meet up with the others in Tokyo with no problems – but it looks like we will be celebrating the New Year just the three of us. Happy New Year everyone – and Happy Birthday DadJ!
